On the 6th of October 2018, Tun Tan Cheng Lock College of Nursing (TTCL CON) held its annual Sports Day in Kompleks Sukan Arena PJ. The main purpose of this event was to encourage all students to not only be physically active as well as to put all the stress aside and have fun while bonding with each other. The event was kicked off with the warm up session by Group 87 followed by energetic cheerleading performances by all the groups of students. It was really a joyous day for all the students, tutors, clinical instructors and the principal as we were able to interact with each other through the exciting games. Everyone participated in the physical games enthusiastically, hoping to win the overall championship of TTCL CON Sport’s Day. However in the end, winning or losing did not matter because most importantly bonds were strengthen and everyone had fun.

FOOD FUN FAIR 2018

On the 29th of September 2018, Tun Tan Cheng Lock College of Nursing (TTCL CON) successfully held a Food Fun Fair. Student nurses worked hard day and night preparing delicious foods such as laksa Sarawak, mac & cheese, “Lok-Lok”, and many more varieties of food and drinks which were all sold out on that day. Games stations such as dodge ball, coloured darts and water-pong were set up as well, and many had great fun. Apart from that, the ghost house was also another attraction at this event. All in all, TTCL CON would like to thank all that came to support and participated in this event.

This welcoming event was held on the 20th of July 2018. This event was held to introduce the latest group of student nurses in the college to the hospital management team and staffs. Group 87 students had about two weeks to prepare for the event and they managed to prepare 5 performances that was choreographed and leaded by their very own group mates. The event started off with the arrival of invited guests then followed by the speech by Sr Susan Thomas, the chairperson of the Board of Governors and an introduction to the hospital management team by Ms Theresa Arul. The day ended well with refreshments and a bonding time between Group 87 and all the invited guests.

Harvest Festival 2018

1st June 2018 was indeed a memorable night to remember. Assunta Hospital and Tun Tan Cheng Lock College of Nursing celebrated the Tadau Kaamatan and Gawai Dayak Harvest Festival. It was organized by the management of Assunta Hospital for the East Malaysian students and hospital staffs that were not able to go back home to celebrate these festivities. Tadau Kaamatan and Gawai Dayak are celebrated to mark the end of the paddy harvest as well as a thanksgiving ceremony for the bountiful harvest. The event started off with the opening gambit done in the Gawai Dayak ceremony which is known as Ranyai. Ranyai marks the opening of the Gawai celebration and it involves the ladies performing the traditional Bidayuh Iban dance and the head of the longhouse known as ‘Tuai Rumah’ will dance around a tree and retrieve the goodies hung on the tree and serve it to the guests. It all climaxes with the feeling of the tree, symbolizing a plentiful harvest.
